MY REVIEW
When
I first heard about this guide, I immediately thought it would be like
all of the other "get abs" books out there, which show you a bunch of
ways to do crunches, and that's it. The truth is, ab
exercises are a distant third in importance if you want a strong
stomach. Diet and muscle building are the two most important
factors, and Geary definitely understands this. His guide is
NOT like all the others out there.
As I mentioned
earlier, diet is the most important factor in getting abs, and Geary
talks about this at length. He tells you what to eat and why
certain foods help you get in shape (and why others make you fat!)
But the real heart of Truth About Abs is the discussion on exercise.
Geary offers you a number of different options for workouts.
This includes six different training routines depending on
your fitness goal
In Truth
About Abs, Geary also
gives you a metabolic calculator, a book on training nutrition, and a
recipe book the focuses on smoothies. You also get a guide on
flexibility, exercises you can do on a staircase, and a book with
exercises that you can do with a stability ball
Truth About Abs begins with a look at the workout equipment you will
need. It then looks at what certain foods do to your body and how to
get lean.
***IF YOU'RE A WOMAN--- you may think "I don't want this program
because I don't want a six pack and I don't want to gain muscle."
But the reality is, both men and women NEED muscle to get in
shape, because muscle helps you burn fat while at rest. And
women don't need to worry about getting "big and buff" or having ripped
abs. Physiologically, this is impossible for women, unless
they take some type of weight gainer or steroids. When women
gain muscle, they end up having that lean look where you look slender,
but not too skinny
BOTTOM LINE:
You will definitely
get in shape if you use
the
tactics discussed in Truth About Abs. My only beef with it is
that it doesn't offer quite enough information on nutrition like Fat
Loss 4 Idiots does
